“Perfect Smart City”: Vikrom Kromadit’s Vision and Mission for Amata”

Today Techno Society has an opportunity to talk to Khun Steven Siew, Senior Vice President of Finance, Investor Relation, and IT departments. He will talk about his passion and impression on Khun Vikrom Kromadit, CEO of Amata PCL.’s vision to work in Amata. Moreover, he will talk about IT pilot project: Data Center at Amata Nakorn by TCCT, located in Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate Chonburi.

Q: As a Singaporean, Why do you choose to work with this Thai company?

A: “Before joining Amata I worked for a Multinational French Company for almost 18 years. I have a deep impression about Thailand because it has a very strong cultural background. People are warm, welcoming and collaborative. Though being a Singaporean, I choose to work at Amata because I have a passion for Khun Vikrom Kromadit’s vision/mission of Amata.”

Q: What is going to be Amata’s expansion plan throughout Asia?

A: “I remember at first Amata had only 1,500 rai of land (240 hectares). Now it has more than 20,000 rai (3,200 hectares). It is huge as almost half the distance of Singapore from one end to the other end. At the moment, in the coming of AEC 2015 Thailand will likely to be the “Regional Logistic Hub”. Amata is expanding more in parallel with AEC through expansion of new site in Vietnam (9,375 rai or 1,500 hectares) using “Perfect Smart City” concept to do businesses along with contributing to Vietnam and its society. Moreover Amata has already been in the plan to study the opportunity in Myanmar and can possibly plan to expand in Laos and Cambodia.”

Q: To what extent data centers and IT infrastructure help Amata expand its businesses/industrial estates?

A: “To build “Perfect Smart City”, the communication and network system inside the estate must be fully linked to cater to all businesses and customers. IT infrastructure and data centers can make the communication and network system for the estate to be linked inside and also outside to the world. Today we are transforming from using the older communication method (such as fixed – line telephone) to the more advanced way (such as I.P. Phone) inside our estates. This will benefit customers. Our first pilot data center, Data Center at Amata Nakorn, powered by TCC
Technology offers a full range of convenience e.g. data storage, backup system, accessibility, Internet, high speed Internet (fiber optic), wi-fi, etc.
More importantly, all IT facility must be applicable to the infrastructure inside the estates. Recently we have applied Cloud Computing technology inside Amata Estates to integrate all systems inside Amata and make customers’ businesses become more efficient.”

Khun Steven summarized, “In the next 2 years, Thailand will truly become “Logistic Hub” and “Regional Hub” in the next few years as AEC approaches and I truly believe that having turnkey services of IT infrastructure is a sign of victory that can make us come to the finish line before any other enterprises.”

“Our Perfect Smart City is driven by data center and connectivity. As they are industrial estate’s fundamental infrastructure, data center must be scalable to serve business growth, reliable (stable), and secure. They must be able to offer turnkey solutions at a high speed. Moreover, the data center needs redundancy system to provide backup services for enterprises especially Multi – National corporations (MNCs). The first data center, Data Center at Amata Nakorn by TCCT can help the enterprises inside the estate to perform better and also creates communication throughout the estate.”
